I first fell in love with Pesto on a trip to the Cinque Terra region of Italy many years ago. After stepping off the train, the first thing on my radar was food, even before finding a place to stay. I was starving. Spying a trattoria that looked inexpensive but promising, I ordered the specialty of the house. The waiter brought me Fettuccine with pesto alla Genovese, and it was love at first bite.
